Safety

Safety is the most important aspect of all my swimming lessons; therefore, I will be in the water alongside my client throughout the lesson and there will always be two or more lifeguards on the poolside at all times whom are all fully qualified with first aider training, so together we assure safety is maintained at all times.

Client First

My belief is that my customers’ needs are of the utmost importance and I am committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of my business is repeat customers and referrals, so I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry.

Fully Qualified Instructor

I currently hold a Swim Ireland Level 1 Assistant Swimming Teacher’s Certificate, Swim Ireland Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics and my Child Protection Certificate for safeguarding children, young people & vulnerable adults.

background

My name is Julia Kelly and I have been involved in swimming for over 30 years now & it is a real passion of mine to help others learn to swim & enjoy the water with confidence.

I have been swimming from before I can remember then began swimming competitively from the young age of 8 and continued competing until I was around 20 years old. I began training and competing for the Belfast swimming club ‘New Northern ASC’, later renamed ‘City of Belfast Swimming Club’ which is still going strong.

We had a very intensive training regime within the club, with training sessions every day and many twice a day (one before school and one after school) plus numerous land-based exercises, flexibility work and gym sessions throughout.

Most weekends consisted of competing in swimming galas throughout Northern Ireland and began with competing for my club in galas such as Teletots Swimming League and the Provincial Towns League (PTL Galas), I then continued to progress to a higher level of competition with competing in the Ulster Open Championships and the Irish National Swimming Championships.

I also competed on behave of my secondary school Lagan College, where they went onto present me with 2 awards for Sporting Achievement and I was also appointed Captain of the Swimming Team.

When I completed my Swim Ireland Level 1 Assistant Swimming Teacher’s course in March 2000, I began voluntarily teaching the younger kids in my Swimming Club, since then I have gained my Swim Ireland Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Aquatics and my Child Protection Certificate for safeguarding children, young people & vulnerable adults.

I am currently a registered swimming teacher and fully insured with the STA - Swimming Teachers' Association and have been a member of the Institute of Swimming (IOS) and an associate member of Swim Ireland - Excellence through teamwork organisation.

Since gaining my Level 2 qualification I began teaching a variety of school swimming lessons, Belfast City Council ‘Make a Splash’ classes, adult group classes, kids group lessons for 'Swimtime' and 1-2-1 lessons for both adults & children throughout Northern Ireland. Teaching this assortment of lessons has enabled me to gain a wealth of experience coaching pupils of a wide range of ages, abilities and enables me to provide my clients with the knowledge, experience & confidence they need to overcome their fears & learn to enjoy the water.

Safety is the most important aspect of all my swimming lessons; therefore, I will be in the water alongside my client throughout the lesson and there will always be two or more lifeguards on the poolside at all times whom are all fully qualified with first aider training, so together we assure safety is maintained at all times.

My belief is that my customers’ needs are of the utmost importance and I am committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of my business is repeat customers and referrals, so I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry.
